The Hõissassaa was founded in September 2002, and it is a member of the Estonian Folk Dance and Folk Music Association (ERRS) since 2004. Its goal is to represent, endear and nurture the customs and values of Estonian folk dances in Hungary. We perform authentic Esonian and Baltic (Finnish, Karelian, Latvian...etc.) folk dances, songs and choreographies based on folk customs, and we also organize folk dance and music events with our musicians.
The international goal of Hõissassaa is also to set an example by protecting the cultural values of the people living in the Amber Road area. We have to be familiar with the traditional culture of the people of Central Europe and the Baltics (in one word: the Amber Road area), we have to protect and diffuse these cultural values, because this is the only way we can ensure that the folk customs of our region will not perish in the great European Union, but will gain their merited place according to their values.
